Physical Apps
Stop-motion animation of physical app machines. A Live project set by Kin Design; The brief was to design shopfronts for a series of Nokia pop-up stores in derelict buildings around London. We were asked to promote the new N900 model, using the model's android platform to engage with the public via the N900 and retaining Nokia's 'Connecting People' ethos.
'By putting everything onto screens, we have lost sight of the real potential of social technology. There are possibilities in the real world which are missing from the digital world – things like tangibility, emotion, community, physicality and experience. However, there are possibilities in the digital world that do not exist in the real world, mainly the potential to reach a vast audience which you could otherwise never be connected to. What we've created are essentially real-world physical apps. that re-humanize social technology and combine the best elements of both the physical and digital worlds.'
