the nature of new cross
Created as part of an introductory project for my University degree. The brief was to create a gift for an assigned member of the class, who in my case happened to be a guy from the same rural part of the countryside that I am. He was feeling homesick, and a bit overwhelmed by the urban sprawl he now found himself living in.
I took the opportunity to discover the hidden countryside of the area, researching details of the local parks and nature reserves (yes, there are nature reserves in South-East London) as well as markets, pubs, wildlife and bus routes and condensing them all onto this handy map, which has since been featured in The Londonist and The Museum of London.
